Join us at Presidio Bitcoin on Saturday, July 11 for a key signing party where we'll be building our own web of trust.
You've probably heard stories about famous activists sending each other encrypted communication. Pretty cool, right? But how do they know the encrypted message is authentic and not a forgery?! Well, if they trust the public key, then they can be confident that the message, encrypted with the associated private key, is the real deal!
But now we have a chicken and egg problem by which we need to bootstrap our public key store.
To do this, we'll meet face to face and cryptographically sign one another's keys. As the world inches more and more towards AI-generated everything, being able to prove your identity will be crucial!
Come for the cryptography, but stay for the food, fun, and good company. All are welcome. See you there!

Is there anything attendees should bring?
We encourage everyone to bring the following if they want to participate in the workshop portion:
1. A daily driver laptop running a unixy operating system (Darwin/MacOS, FreeBSD, Linux, etc)
2. A dedicated "airgap" laptop. Working wifi, disk, camera, or microphone not required, and it is a bonus if they don't work. Any $100 budget laptop from Best Buy or similar will do the job. 15in or lower preferred for using our recommended tamper evidence practices.
3. One minimum (but ideally two) Yubikey 5 or Nitrokey 3
