About Event

Every computer science student write code.
Very few contribute to software used by millions.

Today's internet runs on Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS). Linux, Git, Python, VS Code, Kubernetes, and countless other tools are built by global communities collaborating in the open. This workshop explores how you can become one of those contributors.

Whether you're looking for internships, stronger projects on your resume, or simply want to become a better engineer, contributing to open source is one of the fastest ways to level up.

We'll also look at how AI is changing software development, and why one of the world's most robust open-source projects, Bitcoin, provides a fascinating case study in distributed systems and engineering at scale.
Not Bitcoin as an investment. Bitcoin as software.
We'll explore:
No prior open-source experience is required.
Bitshala is a Bitcoin-focused education initiative where we help developers, designers, and curious builders learn by doing. We run cohorts, clubs, workshops, a hackerspace, and community programs that make it easier for people to explore, contribute to, and build on Bitcoin. Our focus is on hands-on learning, proof-of-work, and growing alongside a community of people who care about open technology, design, and the future of money.
